BURNLEY's Sophie Hitchon has booked her place at the Olympics after winning gold at the national trials this afternoon.
The Blackburn Harriers hammer thrower was favourite for a place in Team GB after a stunning 18 months but made sure in style in Birmingham.
The 20-year-old British record holder threw 69.79m to comfortably beat the rest of the field.
Harriers team mate Holly Bleasdale will be hoping to join her by qualifying for the pole vault tomorrow.
