BRADLEY Fisher has been awarded a basketball scholarship in the USA worth more than $33,000 a year.
The Chorley teenager will travel to the States to develop his game with the Montanta State Bobcats. The 19-year-old is currently part of Myerscough College Basketball Academy programme, studying a Level 3 BTEC. He’ll embark on his adventure next June. Bradley said he can’t wait to begin his new adventure.
‘’I was spotted by a scout and it’s gone from there,” said Bradley. “I’ve already spent time in the States and this is an exciting opportunity which I’m looking forward to. “When I return to the UK hopefully it will send stand me in good stead in my ambitions of becoming a professional player’’. Neal Hopkins, Course Leader of the Myerscough College Basketball Studies programme, said: ‘’It’s brilliant that we’ve achieved our first ‘D1 commit’ and I’m so pleased for Brad. “It’s an amazing opportunity where he’ll live the life of a pro and get the chance to play in front of crowds of up to 20,000 people. “There is no better feeling than watching one of your guys sign his papers and I’m so proud of him’’. Earlier this year the Bobcats Head Coach, Brad Huse, visited the college to see the academy in action. During his visit he spoke very highly of the programme offered by Myerscough.
‘’Coach Hopkins has developed a great programme here with lots to learn,” said Huse. “Some of the students already look like they are at a high level and you can see their preparation is impressive. It’s a well rounded experience for the students.’’
