Lewis Mansell has signed for Partick Thistle on a two-year deal after his release by Rovers.
The striker finished the season on loan at the Championship side and has now made that move permanent.
The 21-year-old wasn’t offered a new deal by Rovers and will join Partick as a free agent ahead of the 2019/20 season.
Mansell failed to make a senior appearance for Rovers but was prolific at Under-18s level, but struggled to replicate that form in the Under-23s.
He scored five times in 14 appearances in 2017/18 as Damien Johnson’s side won the Premier League 2 Division Two title but managed just three substitute appearances this term before being loaned out.
After a short stay with National League North side FC United of Manchester, Mansell joined Partick Thistle, playing 11 times in all.
On signing for the club permanently, Mansell said: “I really enjoyed my time last season and hopefully I can pick up where I left off.
“It’s great to get everything sorted before pre-season starts as it means my sole focus now is on getting ready for the season ahead.
“I liked working with the manager as well and that played a part in my decision to return.
“I liked the way he wanted to play and felt like I improved a lot in my time with him. He pushes you to be your best in training and I can’t wait to get started again in pre-season.
“I like to think I’m a bit more than just a target up front.
“For sure, I can win headers and flick-ons but I also want to be creative with the ball at my feet, driving forward and causing the opposition problems like I did for the late winner against Dundee United.
“I just want the chance to show that creative side and hopefully I’ll be able to do that this season.”
