GARRY Flitcroft praised his side’s character after bouncing back from two disappointments on their travels to record a well-deserved win over title chasing Skelmersdale.
The home side never looked back after Steve Foster’s crafty lob from Tom Ince’s chip over the defence gave them a fourth minute lead. The tireless Magpies worked non stop and doubled their lead in the 38th minute when Ince slipped in Jamie Vermiglio to score. Chorley shut up shop after the break to deny Dale any way back.
“We worked very hard to deny Skelmersdale the chance to play,” said Flitcroft. “I was delighted by the players’ response after the midweek setback.”
