CHORLEY completed a hat-trick of wins over the Railwaymen in three visits to Station View but the result was more satisfying than the performance. In the end, it was two smartly-taken goals that sealed it for Chorley to end a run of four games without a victory.

A fine diving save by Zac Hibbert from a Ben Jones rocket was the highlight of a dour first half in which Chorley’s best effort was a raking cross-shot from Chris Amadi.

Railway’s ranks were reduced after 56 minutes when Steve Ball received a second caution and the Magpies took full advantage on 65 minutes with the first of two carbon-copy strikes intelligently initiated by Amadi.

Helping out in defence, Amadi played the ball through to Steve Burke who raced clear unchallenged before slipping the ball past keeper Chris Hill.

Brady Roberts almost equalised when his shot bounced off the angle of post and bar - a feat repeated later by Chorley’s ever-inventive Alex Porter direct from a free kick.

Hibbert then saved bravely at the feet of Steve Davey before substitute Josh Kenworthy wrapped up the points for Chorley in stoppage time.

Amadi was once again the provided, releasing Kenworthy who raced clear to tuck the ball away.
