I THINK Saturday’s game at Portsmouth will be one of Burnley’s biggest games of the season, particularly after their 5-3 defeat at West Ham.
Once they went 1-0 down at West Ham they conceded some bad goals.
West Ham weren’t prolific scorers before that game, so they probably trebled their tally in one game.
After the amount of goals Burnley have conceded away from home this season it would be great if they could get a clean sheet at Portsmouth.
And they do need to get some more results away because they are having to rely too much on their home form.
If that bubble bursts and they start to lose a few at home, they could start to have some problems.
I think they need a result at Portsmouth, because if they were to lose they would start to slide down the table a bit.
I don't think they will change the way they play, but they maybe need to do something.
They could go five at the back but I’m not sure they will do that, because they have so many attacking players.
Obviously Steven Caldwell will be suspended now after his red card at West Ham, so Andre Bikey will probably drop back into the defence with Kevin McDonald maybe coming into midfield on Saturday.
But other than that I wouldn't change the personnel in defence. I would give them another chance.
It seemed like Burnley had the better of the first 15 or 20 minutes at West Ham.
But unfortunately they switched off and West Ham scored from a quick free kick after Wade Elliott had fouled Scott Parker.
They did get three goals back at the end, though, so they can take that positive from the game. They showed some character to fight back.
There is something there to build on, because for a long time they were struggling to score goals away this season.
But now we have got to take some confidence from the fact that in the last few games they have been scoring away from home.
Chris Eagles was involved in all three goals and he does seem to have done well since he came back into the side. He’s back to his old self.
In the FA Cup, Burnley have been drawn away to League One team MK Dons in the third round.
It is a bit of a banana skin and of course they are managed by former Blackburn Rovers boss Paul Ince.
But we should be confident of going into the next round.
