Chorley boss Steve Waywell said he was really sorry to let midfielder Adam Kozlowski go.
“His ability and commitment were never in question but he clearly has a problem keeping fit,” Waywell said.
“Fitness is paramount at this level and people watching from the sidelines don’t always notice the effects of mistakes made when players are off the pace.
“The game is a lot faster these days and everybody has to work really hard so it’s necessary to be a lot fitter.
"The success I am trying to achieve for Chorley needs fitness as well as commitment, self-belief and ability, with everybody working towards the goal of making progress. That’s why I’m always looking to bring players of the highest calibre available who I feel will take the club forward.
“It was never going to be a quick fix and it certainly won’t be easy, with the budget restrictions at this level.”
