Preston North End's Joe Anyinsah has extended his loan spell at Brighton And Hove Albion for a third and final month - but Football League rules have denied him the chance to appear in a cup semi-final.
Following an exciting two-month stint, the Seagulls had hoped to defer the start of the final month until today in order to make him eligible for their Johnstone's Paint Trophy southern area semi-final at Paul Simpson's Shrewsbury Town on December 16.
Unfortunately, the lapse in his loan period would have meant that his final spell counted as a new loan, which the Football League would not accept.
Therefore, Anyinsah's loan will now end on Friday 12th December.
He has delivered two goals from 13 appearances including a memorable strike in the Carling Cup win over Manchester City.
