The crazy world of the Premiership has claimed yet another managerial victim in Sam Allardyce at Newcastle - but should us Rovers fans be concerned as Newcastle scour the land for a new boss?
I personally think that the sacking of Big Sam shows just how insane our beloved sport has become.
How on earth a mid=table club can sack a manager after just half a season, while still in the FA Cup, is beyond me.
I suppose it shows just how delusional the Geordies have become about their perceived standing within the game.
As a Rovers fan I always worry when one of the so-called bigger jobs becomes available, as Sparky seems to be a much coveted name, but for me he would be absolutely mad to take up the job if offered as it must surely be only second to the England job when it comes to the old proverbial "poisoned chalice".
It is however a testament to the success we have enjoyed at Rovers in the past 3 years or so, but better jobs than the Ewood hot seat are few and far between, and Newcastle certainly isn't one of them.
Allardyce getting the boot means that 8 out of 20 clubs in our league have now changed their managers since August, and I think that this puts Rovers supposed recent "crisis" into perspective.
However, serious investment in the team is desperately needed, particularly following the exit of Robbie Savage, and although I am sure the boss has at least one replacement lined up, it is the quality of the replacements that is the issue.
Once again I would hope that the Board back Sparky to the hilt as they have done in the past to bring in the players of a calibre that Rovers deserve.
Lassana Diarra at Arsenal is being touted about at around £5.5 million, and although not cheap, would be just the kind of player to move us up a level in midfield.
It is true that it can be expensive to back an existing manager, but as it has been proved once again in the North East, it is even more expensive to keep backing new ones.
