Well it appears that "Dream Final" is on after all, whether by design or destiny, but despite the disappointment of defeat in the FA Cup Semi Final, I believe Rovers fans and the club as a whole can draw only positives from what was, result aside, a fantastic day out.
The knives were out for Rovers in some quarters before a ball was even kicked on Sunday, as the national media got all excited about how many tickets went unsold, once again questioning the dedication of the Blue and White faithful.
The areas of empty seats costing £45 and £55 pounds were a visual tribute to exactly why Rovers didn't take their full allocation in my opinion, but the near fifth of the town's population that did show (how many clubs could achieve that?) showed their passion by creating a 90 minute Wall of Sound around our half of Old Trafford, punctuated only by brief spells of noise from the opposition, and only then after they scored.
And in the blazing sunshine, whilst the Rovers fans were achieving a decibel level rarely heard at Old Trafford, Sparky's team of free transfers, unheard of foreigners and potential stars of the future gave the world's most expensive team a second half battering which the likes of Lampard, Drogba and Terry will seldom experience.
When it comes to dishing out praise, Jose Mourinho could perhaps be described as "Scrooge-like" but his post-match tribute to Rovers "heroic" performance was inspired as much out of genuine respect as the fact that little Rovers very nearly derailed the Special One's Quadruple dream.
If Chelsea do go on to clinch an unprecedented four trophies, they may well look at Sunday as their hardest hurdle.
How different the aftermath of this semi-final has been in comparison to the witch-hunt that we were subjected to by the media following our semi-final defeat to Arsenal two years ago.
I just hope that the players don't decide that the season is over for them.
Another season of UEFA football may just be out of reach, but if we turn in similar performances to Sunday for the remainder of the season we certainly won't be far away.
More than half of those who attended the game didn't have season tickets for this season but may just be on the verge of signing up after that second half performance. Let's start the groundwork for next season now by finishing on a high.
