CHORLEY remain third in the Evo-Stik Premier Division after an emphatic victory at Worksop Town.

The Magpies are in the middle of a six-week spell without a home match and went behind to the division’s top scorers when keeper Sam Ashton’s clearance rebounded into the net off Conor Higginson after only four minutes.

Ashton quickly redeemed himself with a fine save from the same player and Chorley levelled in the 14th minute when Dale Whitham capitalised on Worksop hesitation to fire home.

Jamie Vermiglio soon had to head off the Chorley line before Worksop’s Tom Denton nodded an effort against the post.

But the Magpies led at half time as Josh Hine beat keeper Ben Gathercole to the ball and lobbed a shot into the empty net.

Two goals in a six-minute spell midway through the second half wrapped up the points for Chorley.

A surging run down the left by Darren Stephenson culminated in a pinpoint cross which the unchallenged Adam Roscoe headed in.

In the 78th minute Hine flicked the ball past the keeper and scored his second of the game from an acute angle.
