Chorley’s Twenty20 campaign is turning into a disaster as they lost for the third time on Friday.
But it was a thriller against Leyland at Windsor Park.
Andrew Makinson hit 37 and professional Brett Pelser blasted 45 in Leyland's 183-5 as Matt Parry took 3-48.
Chorley pro JJ Smuts anchored the innings and batted throughout for an unbeaten 87 off 59 balls with 10 fours and three sixes.
Will Moulton (23 from just 11 balls) added impetus but Chorley finished 10 runs shy when the overs ran out.
Smuts will also be leaving Windsor Park earlier than anticipated after being called up by South African U21s.
