CHORLEY Cricket Club will look to pick up their first win of the new season this weekend.
The Windsor Park club went down to a 117-run defeat at home to Fulwood and Broughton on the opening day of the new Northern League season last Saturday.
Andy Holdsworth’s men will look to bounce back against newly-promoted Longridge at the Newsham Memorial Cricket Ground.
In their first ever season in the league after winning the Palace Shield, Longridge went down to a nine-run defeat at Netherfield on the opening weekend despite four wickets and an unbeaten 95 from Australian Lachlan Bangs.
On Sunday, Holdsworth then leads his side in first round action in the Royal London Club Championship when they host Westhoughton, members of the Bolton Cricket League.
Against F&B, Chorley lost the toss with the visitors posting a total of 219-8 in their 50 overs.
Impressive knocks by Jon Fenton (45), former Lancashire and England man Simon Kerrigan (44) and Euan Fletcher (35) helped them post a good total and give the hosts plenty to do.
Chorley professional Chamikara Edirisinghe was the pick of the bowlers with the Sri Lankan taking 3-67.
Ed Moulton, a Lancashire 2nd XI player, also chipped in with 2-34.
In reply, the hosts’ cause was not helped with six of their top order batsmen failing to reach double figures.
Skipper Holdsworth hit 29 and Gaurav Dhar added 21 further down the order helped as Chorley collapsed, just about limping past the century mark by the close of play.
They were ultimately bowled out for 102 in just the 31st over as the season started with a heavy defeat.
Fenton followed up his 45 with the bat with 4-14, Lewis Dingle and Chris Brookes taking three wickets apiece.
