BLACKBURN’S Steven Schofield was the winner of the inaugural Stonyhurst Triathlon.
Held at Stonyhurst College, the event attracted more than 200 competitors and, despite less than favourable conditions, spectators turned out in force too.
Representing Triclan, Schofield (1:06:39) came first in the event that began with a 400 metre swim, followed by a 21k cycle ride and ending with a 5k run.
Paul Guinan of Blackburn was fourth overall, and second male veteran over 40, in a time of 1:08:45.
Rossendale Tri’s Peter Greenwood was the leading over 50 competitor, while Todmorden’s Melanie Siddall led the way in the over 50 female category.
n Chorley’s Luke Betts was the winner of race one of the Chorley Park Series, which was held on Friday.
Emma Perrin, also of Chorley, won the female race.
