* The Blackburn Road Runners are hosting the re-scheduled 10K Winter Warmer on Sunday.
The annual event – which was postponed due to poor weather – takes place on the athletics track and runs up past Witton school, then up Buncer Lane before moving on to Tower Road and eventually back to the athletics track.
Entry fee for runners is adults £6 and children (age 6 to 16) £2 for the 2.5K Fun Run.

* The Standish Hall Trail 10K race is being held this Saturday.
Entry is £4 and £1 extra on the day and starts at 2.30pm from the Britannia Wigan Hotel, in Standish.
The course is completely off road on bridle paths and woodland trails.

* Darwen Dashers are staging their first night-time fell race, the five-mile ‘Mr Sparkle’s Dark Un’ on Friday, February 24.
The unusual event, starting at The Royal Hotel, in Tockholes, has been organised by Dasher Simon Fox, who is hoping to attract at least 60 entrants from across the region.
Pre-entry is £5, or £5.50 on the night, and includes a free chip butty at The Royal.
Full body cover must be carried and a headtorch must be used.

* Bolton United Harriers & AC are hosting the Central Lancashire 5K Grand Prix this Sunday.
The race starts at 10.30am at Leverhulme Park, Long Lane, Bolton, BL2 6EB. Registration is at the athletics track, with £8 entry fee.
* The 2012 Great North West Half Marathon takes place on Sunday, February 26 starting at Blackpool’s Hilton Hotel.
The half-marathon, starting at 11am, is a multi-lap, flat and fast course on the coastal front of the Fylde.
Entry fee is 22 and you can apply online at fyldecoastrunning.com * Sunday, March 11 is the date for the oldest multi-terrain race in the north west at Abbey Village, near Chorley, in the shape of the 24th Roddlesworth Roller and Daffodil Doddle.
The races start at 11am and 12.30pm.
Entry fee is £6.50 per club.

* Organisers of the We Love Manchester 10K (formerly the City of Manchester 10K) – scheduled for June 24 – are offering a budget price of £9 for the event. This is a special discounted rate for all runners who sign up before Wednesday, February 29.

Once again, Harry Haseley of Accrington Road Runners is providing a special Olympic transport package, which includes pick-up and travel from East Lancashire to London, accomodation on Saturday, April 21, transport to registration on the Saturday afternoon, breakfast on Sunday morning, coach to the start of the marathon and transport back to East Lancashire.
