BLACKBURN Harriers' Senior Track and Field Team suffered the most frustrating of afternoons when the biggest day of their season was ruined by the weather.
The club had already won the Northern League Division 2WC title, but with there being four regionalised second divisions and only one first covering the whole of the north, there had to be a play-off between eight clubs for the two promotion places.
That should have been at Cleckheaton on Saturday, but the match had to be abandoned.
Things had started so well for the Harriers too with Sarah Henton setting a club record 28.98 metres in the hammer before the rained intervened.
Promotion will now be decided by a "paper match" with results based on the previous league results for the athletes declared on the day.
Team Manager Tony Wood would like to thank all athletes and officials who made the abortive trip to Barnsley.
