ROSSENDALE Harriers continue to lead Division Three of the North of England Track and Field League for senior athletes.
In their second match of the season at Carlisle, they were narrowly beaten by Leigh Harriers to reverse the first round result.
With a first and a second place each, both clubs have 11 points, but Dale have a narrow six-point advantage on match scores, 711.5 to 705.5.
Division One is now wide open after a shock result at Lincoln, where the host club won the match after previously finishing last.
Blackburn Harriers were third, and when added to their equal second in the opener, they are confident of successfully defending their title.
The combined Burnley and Pendle team improved to finish fifth in their Division Two match at Cleckheaton.
Hyndburn were third in their Division Four match at Bury, where Chorley Athletic Club took sixth.
