Four East Lancashire fell runners have been chosen to run for England at the British and Irish Junior Home Internationals this Sunday and another two are travelling reserves. The competition for U16s and U18s is at Glendalough in Ireland and Blackburn Harrier Beckie Taylor had already earned automatic selection after winning the U18 English Junior Championship.

Rossendale Harrier Joe Johnston and the Emma Spencer, who left Pendle AC recently, have been included after finishing second in their respective Championships, Joe in the U18 boys and Emma in the U16 girls, while the inclusion of U16 Dominic Mahoney means that our area will be represented in all four races. The ‘Junior Do’ was held last weekend where the Annual Presentation took place after a mixed relay race. Taylor, Johnston and Spencer picked up their individual medals along with Elizabeth Greenwood of Blackburn Harriers, the English U12 Champion.

Elizabeth was also part of the Blackburn Harriers’ Team that won the first ever English Junior Club Championship – the other counters being Taylor, Mahoney, Polly Pearse and Sally Searson.
