GARY Shaw set a blistering pace on the hottest day of the year to win the Trawden 7.
The race, hosted by Trawden AC, was the ninth of the Burnley and Pendle Grand Prix series, and attracted more than 100 runners.
Clayton Harrier Shaw finished more than a minute ahead of second-placed Kieran Horrigan.
Current leader of the Grand Prix series, Andy Preedy of Rossendale, finished in fifth place but this was enough to keep his top spot ahead of the summer break.
Molly Ralphson, of host club Trawden AC, came home as the first lady to maintain her current hot form and keep top spot in the Grand Prix series.
Young Clayton runner Aidan Holgate was placed sixth overall on the day but that meant that he was the first Under 20 runner home, placing him second overall in the Grand Prix.
Despite the hot weather, two records were broken on the day.
Clayton’s Ted Orrell was the first Vet 70 home, beating the course record by a staggering five minutes.
It was also a worthwhile journey to Trawden for Carol Douglas, of Red Rose runners, who took the female Vet 60 record.
Prizes on the day were sponsored by Complete Runner of Nelson.
The Grand Prix series now goes into its summer break, with the next race being the Cliviger 6 on Sunday August 1 from the Sports Ground on Mount Lane, Cliviger.
