* The Barley Cabin Fell Race is a new addition to the Pendle and Burnley Grand Prix this year. It takes place on Friday at 7pm from Barley Village Car Park BB12 9JX. The race takes in four miles of Pendle Hill with a total climb of 1100 feet. Entries will be accepted on the day.

* Pendle Forest Orienteers are staging another in their series of local events this Saturday at Staghill Woods, Waterfoot. As usual, it will be suitable for families, beginners, and experienced orienteers with White, Yellow and Orange courses offering different degrees of difficulty. The Technical course on offer this week will be a Light Green option. Parking is available at Newchurch C of E Primary School, Dark Lane, Rawtenstall BB4 7UA. * The Bash Grueller 5K Trail Race is on Sunday at 11am from the Dog and Partridge, off -Manchester Road in Accrington. There will also be a one mile fun run at 10.00am.

* Edenfield Primary School is staging ‘The Big Run’ on Sunday at 10.30am. It is billed as a run for all the family with a choice of courses over approximate 2K and 10K distances. You will find the school on Market Street, Edenfield, Bury BL0 0HL.

* The third round of the BOFRA Fell Championship is at Kettlewell on Sunday from noon. There are races for U9s, U12s, U14s, U17s and seniors with the juniors racing distances appropriate to their ages and the seniors running 1.5 miles with 600 feet of climb. It all starts from the Bluebell Hotel at Kettlewell, Upper Wharfedale on the B6160.

* The last of the Chernobyl 5K race series is on Tuesday at 7pm from the Welcome Tavern, Hennel Lane, Lostock Hall, Walton Park, Preston PR5 5UL.

* The Burnley Boys Club 10K is on Wednesday at 7pm from Barden Track, Burnley BB10 1JQ.

The run is virtually a road race although there is a short stretch of canal towpath on each of the three laps. It is a counter in the Pendle and Burnley Grand Prix and you will be able to enter on the night.

* The Weets Fell Race is on Wednesday at 6.30pm from Letcliffe Park, Manchester Road, Barnoldswick. Race distance is 5.5 miles with 1800 feet of ascent, and entrants must be over 16.

* The Horwich Harriers’ Jubilee Five Mile Road Race Series continues on Wednesday at 7.30pm after registration at the Rivington Village Club, Horrobin Lane, Rivington BL6 7SE. Race distance is five miles.

* The Walsh Two Lads Fell Race is on Thursday June 17 at 7.30pm. Race distance is 5.25 miles with 900 feet of ascent. Registration is on the night at the Bridge Inn, Church Street, Horwich BL6 7BR.

* Rochdale Harriers are presenting their 16th Annual Three Day Event this weekend from the Brown Cow at Norden, Rochdale.

All three races are six miles long starting on Friday evening at 7.30pm on the road. On Saturday at 11am there is a multi-terrain event, and then on Sunday there is the Knowl Hill Fell Race also at 11am.

This one includes 1,300 feet of up-and-down which gives it a ‘B’ category level of difficulty. You can enter races individually and enter on the day or do the complete series.
