TOM Cornthwaite recovered from a fall at a muddy Lancaster University to finish second senior man in the fourth round of the Mid Lancs Cross Country League.
Adam Sutton of Preston led home the Blackburn Harrier with Mark Aspinall first veteran home in fifth. Clayton Harriers swept the board in the veteran classes as Peter Butterworth and Barry Mitchell won the over 50s and over 60s. For good measure Clayton's Maureen Laney was the first veteran woman.
Burnley's Daniel Westgate and Park High's Rebecca Robinson were East Lancashire's junior winners, Westgate in the under 13 boy's race and Robinson for the under 17 girls.
Danielle Walker was second under 17 for Burnley despite running without spikes. Rossendale Harriers demonstrated their strength in depth as their under 13 boys took team honours Blackburn Harriers were team winners in the under 15 girls' event with Rachel Searson placing second, while Beckie Taylor was third under 13 and Katie Morris second under 20 for the same club.
Hyndburn prospects George Banks and Joe Oakfield made second and third in the under 11 race as Chorley Harrier Ella Crabtree came home second girl.
