Blackburn Harriers go from strength to strength and will enter their Centenary Year in 2010 with their senior athletes the Northern League and the Northern Inter Club Cup champions, the first time they have held both trophies simultaneously.

Harriers have been recog-nised for their contribution at county level by winning the community club of the year award at the Lanca-shire Sports Awards and 800m star Paul Bradshaw collected the Les Rogerson Trophy for the best display by a Lancastrian athlete.

The end of the year gave the club a chance to reflect on their own achievements with their annual awards at Blakey’s, with Rossendale’s greatest ever athlete Dave Lewis the guest presenter.

The club needs a committed and capable team of people like George Davies, the club and membership secretary, who was made a life member.

Davies, then a marathon runner, joined from Darwen Dashers in 1995 to represent the Harriers in veteran road racing team events, but was diagnosed with ARVC. He had to have a defibrillator implant in 2003 and has made a switch from competitor to admin-istrator.
