THE Pendle and Burnley Grand Prix has reached its summer break with Keighley’s Amy Green seemingly set to regain her women’s title after winning the last six races.
The race for the men’s title is still wide open with different winners in all eight rounds.
Clayton’s Andrew Orr is the current series leader but club mate Gary Shaw is the narrow favourite.
The latest round was the 27th running of the Trawden 7 Mile Multi-Terrain Race, which was won by Todmorden veteran Andrew Wrench.
The unattached Kieran Horrigan finished a strong second, only 30 seconds behind after Stuart Fogg of Clayton had led the field in the early stages before fading to third position.
For the women, the in-form Green was over four minutes ahead of her closest rival Sue Burns, the over 50 being the first veteran.
Trawden’s very own Molly Ralphson was a close third as her club fielded a record 22 members.
Surprisingly, only one record was broken on a day that offered almost perfect conditions.
Todmorden’s Moyra Parfitt reduced the previous over 60s time by over seven minutes.
The other leading veterans included over 55 Evan Cook for Blackburn, with Dave Scott and Brian Leathley both of Clayton taking over 65 and over 75 honours.
The Grand Prix now takes a month’s break before meeting again at the Whalley Nab Race on Tuesday July 28.
