Alison Leonard and Sophie Hitchon will be put forward for selection for the World Junior Championships at Poland in July after setting qualifying marks for the Great Britain Under-20 Team at the Loughborough International.
Leonard was third in the women's 800m in 2:05.31, behind winner Charlotte Best of Loughborough, and Hitchon posted 58.12 metres in the hammer for sixth. Both women have reached their targets before with Leonard ranking second in the world this year and Hitchon breaking the UK record in their respective events. But reaching the required level in an international match will further enhance their prospects.
A third Blackburn Harrier, Paul Bradshaw, appeared at Loughborough as a guest. He finished fourth in the men's 800 metres A' invitation race in 1:50.83.
In the women's equivalent race, Leigh Lennon of Ribble Valley AC was timed at 2:10.78 for seventh place, and Chorley athlete Vicky Gill was a guest in the women's 5000m where she was sixth in 16:42.89.
