VICKY Gill capped a successful Christmas with a fine fourth place at the Belfast International UK Cross Challenge.
The Chorley athlete was the first counter for the North of England Team to boost her confidence ahead of the World Championship Trials.
Gill completed the 5.6 kilometres in 21:54 after a strong second half, to finish 34 seconds behind winner Hayley Yelling.
Carly Needham, from Rochdale Harriers, was seventh for the England team.
Three athletes from the Ribble Valley club took part in the junior races over the same 5.6 kilometre distance, with Robbie Schofield and Joe Basquill 30th and 40th in the U17s and Nathan Riding 31st in the U20.
