Jackie Shaw has won the first race of her career at the David Staff Memorial Race.
The Darwen Dasher couldn't have chosen a better moment either as the race was organised by her own club.
Jackie took 44 minutes and 58 seconds to run the 5.1 mile circuit from Sunnyhurst Woods to Jubilee Tower and back finishing 28 seconds clear of Lostock's Emma Gregory with this year's BOFRA Champion Kate Rogan back in third.
Shaw was also the first veteran as fourth placed Melanie Taylor from Blackburn Harriers won the junior title. Local racers largely dominated the men's race with Blackburn Harriers scoring a 1-2 finish.
In form Tom Cornthwaite was virtually two minutes clear of Lee Passco in 32:33 while the former Burnley man Marc Hartley was third home in 35:14.
Josh Tighe was fifth for Rossendale with Chorley Harriers Dominic Raby and John Sutton sixth and seventh. Jack Dugdale gave Clayton-le-Moors Harriers the junior prize.
