IN the junior section of Mid Lancs Cross Country League at Burnley’s Towneley Park, Jack Hindle was sixth in the under 17s boys’ event as his club Blackburn won the team competition.

Pendle’s Matthew Barnes won the under 15s race in 14mins 37secs ahead of clubmate Thomas Marchant in 14mins 49secs.

Pendle won the team event with Matthew Thompson 11th and Luke Thompson 12th.

Pendle had another victory in the under 13s event thanks to Kai Atkins in 11mins 30secs.

Rossendale’s Matthew Mackay was 11th with Clayton’s Thomas Bradley 12th and Chorley’s Ben Hughes 13th.

Hyndburn’s Jack Hutchinson was fifth in the under 11s race in 7mins 35secs and Blackburn’s Jamie Teare was 12th in 7mins 49secs.

Rossendale’s Rebecca Flanagan was fourth in the under 17s girls’ event, one place ahead of Blackburn’s Katie Buckingham. Fellow Blackburn athletes Phoebe Howe and Rhiannon Wickham were eighth and ninth.

Blackburn won the team event in both that category and the under 15s girls’ section, where Elizabeth Greenwood was the winner in 12mins 7secs – edging clubmate Grace Handley into second place.

Blackburn’s Hannah Cookson was seventh in the under 13s girls’ section with Clayton’s Briony Holt ninth.

Blackburn’s Amy Dales won the under 11s girls’ race in 8:00 with Rossendale’s Maisy Vasic third and Clayton’s Millie Stubbs fifth.

Blackburn’s Eleesha Charnley was eighth and Rossendale’s Alexandra Walton crossed the line in ninth.
