BLACKBURN Harrier Matt Lalor won the bronze medal at the Lancashire Five-Mile Road Championships, running in the Green Drive 5K at Lytham.
And it proved a double celebration for Harriers, with the men’s team – led by Lalor’s efforts – carrying off team gold.
Lalor landed fifth place overall in the 5K race, and Lalor (27.02) was followed by Chris Davies in 18th and ninth in the championships.
Helen Leigh was the next Harrier past the post in 46th position (31.48), just ahead of Evan Cook in 47th (31.49), who took the silver medal in the V60 category. Leigh, fifth woman home, took the Lancashire silver in the V60 category.
John Cookson produced a splendid run in 84th (34.33), three seconds outside his personal best. Jan Buckingham, 225th (42.23) and Carol Cookson 252nd (44.02) also performed well.
The Cookson family were joined by daughter Hannah in the junior mile and the teenager produced another good performance.
Hannah finished in third place overall and second girl home in the mixed field of 77 boys and girls.
