SHADAB Iftikhar will take temporary charge for Nelson’s home match against Daisy Hill tomorrow following the resignation of joint managers Robert Grimes and Michael Morrison.
Nelson were beaten 4-2 at Chadderton last weekend and have slipped to 12th in the North West Counties League First Division after starting the season with three straight victories.
The Blues have games in hand over the sides above them but are now without a boss after Grimes and Morrison quit their positions as joint managers, having only taken charge during the summer.
Iftikhar, a coach at the club, will lead the team until a new boss is found. The position is currently being advertised.
Reacting to the departure of their management duo, a Nelson statement read: “This is deeply disappointing to all concerned and involved with the club.
“However the decision has been made and the club have to deal with it.
“We express our gratitude to both of them for their passion and commitment during their short tenure and wish them well in the future.
“Shadab Iftikhar, the club coach, has accepted temporary responsibility for team affairs.”
Nelson’s Lancashire Challenge Trophy first round tie against Bacup Borough was postponed yet again in midweek.
Bacup are in Premier Division action tomorrow when they make the trip to Congleton Town.
Colne visit AFC Blackpool, while Barnoldswick Town are away to Wigan Robin Park.
Padiham are also on the road, taking on Winsford United after a 1-1 draw at home to AFC Blackpool in midweek. Joe Garvin found the net.
Elsewhere, Ramsbottom United are away to Wakefield in Evo-Stik First Division North after a stunning 6-0 win at home to Garforth Town in midweek.
Lee Gaskell netted a hat-trick – two of the goals coming from the penalty spot – with Jon Robinson grabbing a brace and Grant Spencer also on target.
Clitheroe visit Ossett Town after a 2-1 victory at home to Bamber Bridge, secured thanks to goals from Alex Johnson and Simon Nangle.
Chorley, though, go into their Evo-Stik Premier Division game at home to Frickley Athletic on the back of a 4-1 loss to AFC Fylde in midweek.
Ciaran Kilheeney had put them ahead from the penalty spot but the visitors hit back with four goals in the final half hour.
