SHEBBY Singh has assured Blackburn Rovers fans he WILL find the right man for the managerial hot seat – after urging the Ewood Park faithful to return to the club.

Rovers’ global adviser has appealed for calm as the club start a “patient” and “extensive” search for Steve Kean’s successor, but insists the final outcome will be based on a “wise footballing decision”.

Singh revealed Rovers’ ticket office had reported a significant upsurge in activity over the weekend, following Friday night’s shock resignation of Steve Kean, and has called for a return of the Ewood Park 12th man for Saturday’s visit of Wolves and beyond.

Singh also confirmed Kean’s assistant Eric Black would be at the helm for tomorrow’s trip to Nottingham Forest and Wolves’ weekend visit, claiming it was vital the club united together once more.

The Lancashire Telegraph understand former Rovers striker Alan Shearer would be interested in finding out more about the position, with the likes of Henning Berg, Garry Flitcroft and Tim Sherwood understood to be interested in the role.

Spurs are likely to make a potential White Hart Lane exit for Sherwood almost impossible though, as Rovers’ board look to ensure no stone is left unturned in their pursuit of the right appointment.

He said: “I’m appealing for calm this week, that is very, very important. We have two important games coming up in the next few games and we can’t let anything take our focus off them.

“We are not going to set any timescales and we are not going to call Eric Black a ‘caretaker manager’, he is our manager for the next two games and he needs everyone’s support.

“We are not going to rush anything now. We have had a lot of applicants already and we will look at them and draw up a shortlist. We have to be very, very careful how we select the next manager or to see if we already have the next manager.

“This is my responsibility to get the right man and I will make sure I make a wise footballing decision. I know I will make that.”

Rovers’ Premier League relegation combined with Steve Kean’s unpopularity at the club has seen attendances at Ewood dwindle this season.

But, with the under fire Kean now having left the club, Singh hopes Rovers can move He said: “We hope the supporters can be our 12th man again. I can’t underestimate the importance of a full ground with our great fans being that 12th man.

“There were queues outside the ticket office on Saturday and we opened on Sunday as well and that is great to hear.

“Hopefully this can carry on because the fans can make a big difference for us.”

Meanwhile, former Rovers’ Premier League winning defender Henning Berg has indicated he would be interested in discussing the vacant position.

The 43-year-old former Lillestrom manager declined to comment outright on whether he wanted the job but was quick stress how much Rovers meant to him.

He said: “This is a chance for the owners to move the club in the right direction. It is up to them to decide what route they want to take and what type of manager they want.

“It is no secret Blackburn Rovers mean a lot to me. I spent seven and a half years at the club and I experienced so much there.

“I have managed in Norway for seven years and am now doing a bit of work TV2 in Norway. Blackburn Rovers means a lot to me and I am sure there will be a lot of interest in the club.”
