BLACKBURN Rovers caretaker boss Eric Black insists he has not even thought about his own Ewood Park future after describing the last 24 hours as a “whirlwind”.

Black took charge of first team affairs for this afternoon's 1-1 Championship draw with Charlton after Steve Kean had stunned the club by quitting as Rovers boss last night.

Black, who had been Kean's assistant manager, is expected to temporarily continue in the hot seat but he declined to comment on whether he would like the role full time.

He said: “I haven't even thought about. I haven't even reflected on it. I have been rather busy since 8pm last night.

“We will see what the owners decide. The games come fast and thick. I haven't even thought about it, it has been a bit of a whirlwind.

“The owners will decide where the club goes and I am sure they will make the right decision.”

Black admitted no one expected Kean to resign until he informed them at a team meeting in their London hotel last night.

He said: “It was business as usual and then Steve decided in the hotel that it was time to move on and he has every right to make that decision. We respect his decision.

“We had no inclination at all. He decided last night was his decision and I fully respect it.

“The feeling was disappointment because they fully respect the manager. I didn't have a worry in terms of the attitude of the players because I know them well enough.”

Dickson Etuhu gave Rovers an early lead at The Valley before Johnnie Jackson scored an equaliser before the break, after his penalty had just been saved.

“The players that are in the dressing room have a magnificent attitude and they have shown that under extremely difficult circumstances”, said Black.

“They have defended extremely well and onwards and upwards. I think it was a fair result. We thought the penalty was poor but our reaction to the save should be better.

“I am not saying we were fantastic or threatening their goal. But I thought we had a little bit more compactness and a bit of resilience.”

Meanwhile there is mystery surrounding Rovers defender Gael Givet after the defender was withdrawn at half time.

Black admitted the substitution was not due to injury or tactical reasons, but refused to comment further.
