ALEX Davies once again showed his class but the England Under 19 World Cup star couldn't help Darwen to a Northern League win as they drew at Carnforth.

The 18-year-old top scored with 62 as the Towers posted 243-5 from their 50 overs at Lodge Quarry.

Professional Shaun De Kock also made 61 as Darwen kept the scoreboard ticking over while Carnforth professional Toby Bulcock claimed four wickets two days after he helped Cumberland to the Minor Counties Knockout Trophy.

That was always going to be a testing target for Carnforth to go at and while Ryan Nelson made 73 and Lewis Bradley 55 they were never really in the hunt especially with Neil Cordingley on form with the ball.

Cordingley claimed a hat-trick en-route to a return of 6-44 but Carnforth closed on 185-8.

Chorley had another day to forget as they were well beaten by Kendal at Windsor Park.

Sub-pro Michael Smith top scored as Kendal batted first and the South African's watchful 66 was crucial in the course of the game as the Westmorlanders posted 144-8 with the wickets being shared by Billy Smith, Chris Harty, Iain Critchley and Guarav Dhar.

Chorley needed a good start to their reply but Jack White (4-28) ripped out the top order and with Chris Miller (3-13) also on form it was a tough ask.

Only Jack Bentham, Michael Critchley and Andrew Holdsworth managed double figures as Chorley were 71 all out.

Barrow stayed top as they chased down Netherfield's 199-9 to win by four wickets and Fleetwood maintained their assault on the title with a 15-point win over St Annes.

Sam Bell was the star of the show as he claimed 9-50 to bowl St Annes out for 166 after Adam Parker's 75 and 62 from Mike Clinning had helped Fleetwood up to 211-7.

Leyland thrashed Lancaster after declaring on 198-8 and then bowling the Lune Road outfit out for just 46 while Morecambe's game with Blackpool was called off after Woodhill Lane was left unfit after more rain on Thursday and Friday.
