IQBAL Bhai never went in to sport for personal recognition but admitted he was overwhelmed when he picked up the Lifetime Achievement Award last year.
But Iqbal, who has been involved in football, cricket and badminton for more than 25 years, admitted he enjoyed his little moment in the spotlight.
“People like myself don’t go in to sport to win awards but I have to say, it was lovely to get that bit of recognition.
“I lot of people came up to me afterwards in the street and congratulated me.
“It was a nice little boost to keep you going but the awards also highlighted what I did. So thanks to that I have managed to encourage more people to get involved in sport.”
