With Blackburn now set for a season in the championship after a 1-0 loss to Wigan Athletic, Steve Kean attempted to defend his side despite their relegation.
Rovers had to win tonight’s fixture if they were to hold any hopes of staying in the Premier League but those hopes were dashed as the home side failed to fight for their future.
Asked where the blames lays, Kean simply answered: “We didn’t win enough games. I don’t think it’s anyone’s fault in particular, we just didn’t win enough games.”
But with his side putting up virtually no opposition to a more-than-comfortable Wigan, he said: “I find it difficult to put it into words. I felt tonight we gave enough and had a few opportunities. I felt we done enough to take it to the last game like we did last season.”
“The fact was that we had to win next week but there was still a chance. I think the players gave it their all tonight.”
