Two goals from Adam Dale earned Bacup Borough a 2-1 win over Bootle at a soggy West View.

But more rain has led to more congestion for Borough as they North West Counties League season enters extra time.

Dale hit the net twice in the first half and Borough were able to hold on for the win.

Colne drew 1-1 at Glossop North End thanks to a James Crorken goal and they should have been in action yesterday at Bacup – but that game was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

That has been a problem across the league with officials taking the unusual step of allowing a week’s extension to the season.

Bacup have four league matches and their big League Challenge Cup Final against Maine Road to play this week.

Barnoldswick Town thumped Squires Gate 4-1 at the seaside to finish their away programme with a flourish.

Aaron Hollindrake put Barlick in front before Squires Gate levelled but Town hit the goals trail after the break with Harry Thompson, Chris Ridhalgh and co-manager Stewart Airdrie finding the net.

Padiham ended their season with 1-1 draw with Flixton at The Arbories on Saturday It was goalless in the first half but the Storks fell behind on 52 when a long-range shot by Andrew Keogh squirmed under the attempted punt downfield of goalkeeper Sean Davis and as he looked on aghast, the ball rolled into the net.

Thankfully for Davis Padiham drew level eight minutes later thanks to a well-placed shot from James Treanor.

Padiham Reserves are in action tomorrow when they host Silsden in the final of the North West Counties League Reserve Division Cup at The Arbories. The game kicks off at 7.45pm.

John Leeming and Steve Lee both bagged braces as AFC Darwen outclassed Eccleshall 5-1 in the First Division with Tim Drugan scoring the other, while Nelson drew 1-1 at Northwich Villa.
