JUNIOR Hoilett admits Saturday’s stunner was his best ever goal for the club – after insisting Blackburn Rovers are up for their Premier League battle ahead.

The Canadian starlet curled a 25-yard strike past Norwich stopper John Ruddy to give his side an unassailable 2-0 advantage and keep them in the fight to retain their top flight status.

Hoilett scored a similar goal in the 3-3 draw at Norwich in late October and, despite several other brilliant individual strikes in his Rovers’ career, he believes Saturday’s effort was his best yet.

He said: “I wanted the ball early from Marcus (Olsson) and I wanted to get the defender on the back foot early and I knew where I was going to put the ball.

“I had a feeling it was going to go in the moment I hit it. The keeper got a touch but I don’t think he had a chance and it was a great three points.

“I think that goal was better. I hit it sweeter than the last one and we got the three points so it was better. It is the best I have scored for Blackburn Rovers.”

Rovers travel to White Hart Lane on Sunday still three points adrift of Premier League safety with just three games left of the season, including a daunting final day trip to Chelsea.

Steve Kean’s men remain favourites to suffer the drop into the Championship but Hoilett believes Saturday’s win over the Canaries proved Rovers are ready to fight for their lives.

“It was a great performance by the team and we keep going on next week, where we have a very big game,” Hoilett told Rovers-player.

“It was big and it gives the team big confidence going into the last three games. That was an important three points.

“I would not say we felt the pressure, although obviously there is pressure. You can see on the field we are enjoying our football. The confidence was up, the team stuck by each other, worked hard for each other and got an important three points.

“We are going to fight till the end and we have a great belief we are going to get out of it.

“We have belief and we just have to play our games and we will get the results.

“We were always up for the battle.

“There were a few changes and it helped. Gael Givet did tremendous at the back, he was fighting for the team.

“The win was what we needed to give the team a big boost and the clean sheet was important.”
