The promotion champagne was left on ice for the Shrewsbury fans who made the trip to the Crown Ground.
Their team needed to beat the Reds to secure promotion but the Stanley team had other ideas.
The second half performance from the Stanley boys was a real cracker and the red contingent of the 3,000+ crowd now bear witness to the attacking style of play the new management duo want their teams to play. It has to be said on days like Saturday I do not want the Reds to move ground.
The massive following from the Shrews combined with a hardcore Stanley fans filled the Crown Ground and the atmosphere was superb.
While a brand new shiny ground would be lovely I am more firmly of the opinion that the redevelopment of the Crown Ground is the way forward.
I must also mention the community trust teams, my four-year-old son Oliver started training last Monday at Accrington Academy.
The standard of coaching for these lads is brilliant.
If we are to remain a Football League club then the great work of the folk in the trust will go a long way to sustaining our future.
