DAVID Edgar is ready to make Blackpool rock and cause another play-off upset tomorrow.
After putting the kibosh on Leicester City’s top six challenge by holding the Foxes to a goalless draw in a game they needed to win, Burnley hope to cause similar damage at Bloomfield Road.
Blackpool’s position is a little clearer than Leicester’s. A second play-off spot in two years is the Seasiders’ to lose as they sit in fifth place going into the game, with a four-point advantage over Middlesbrough.
But Burnley have their own incentive, to end an excellent away campaign with a club record-equalling 11th win on the road.
And Edgar admits that is their aim, after Tuesday night’s stalemate meant they missed out on the chance to set a new personal best.
“It would have been good to make a little bit of history, but if we can equal it on Saturday and get the three points away from home it would be a good end to the season,” said the Canadian defender, who is prepared for Blackpool trying to avenge a 3-1 defeat at Turf Moor.
“They will want to get their own back. We put on a good performance in front of the Sky cameras against them at home and got the three points.
“But they’ve been doing really well lately and they’ll want to come out flying and stay in the promotion places.”
Edgar, though, believes Tuesday’s shut-out against Leicester City was evidence of Burnley becoming more resilient.
“We had a gameplan and we stuck to it throughout the 90 minutes,” he said.
“I thought overall we defended well as a team and worked hard.
“Leicester are a fantastic team and everyone thought they would be pushing for promotion.
“We did ourselves justice and did what we went there to do.
“We’re looking to sort of get a run together before the end of the season and I think we deserved the point.”
The draw extended Burnley’s unbeaten run to four games for the third time this season.
“We said a few weeks ago we wanted to end the season on a high and I think we’re going some way to doing that,” he said.
“We’ve got two more games to stay unbeaten.
“We want to finish it well for our confidence, and for the fans as well.”
