CHARLIE Austin was denied by the woodwork and a goalline clearance as Burnley's bid to set a new away record hit the buffers.
The striker came the closest to breaking the deadlock in the penultimate away game.
Had he been successful it would have set the Clarets on the way to securing an 11th away win for only the fifth time in their history – and first time in 20 years.
Austin had a couple of half chances in the first half, and Ross Wallace also went close on his return to the right wing following a spell at left back in the absence of Ben Mee and Daniel Lafferty, who was recalled after injury last night.
Austin couldn't believe his luck after the break, or lack of it, as his header from Kieran Trippier's right wing cross bounced off one post, then the other, before being scrambled behind.
His header from the follow-up corner was then headed off the line.
Lee Grant was called into action in both halves, but did his bit to preserve a deserve clean sheet and a point.
