ROSSENDALE 24 BEVERLEY 25 Dale sought to right the previous fixtures outcome, a narrow 7-5 defeat away to the east Yorkshire side.
And they were also looking to build some momentum in anticipation of a play-off appearance, ending the season on a high.
Immediately Dale looked threatening and had an early shot at goal, narrowly missed by the boot of Steve Nutt, however the intent was there and they followed up with successive scores from winger Danny Harrison and scrum half Jamie Albinson, both of which were converted.
The early lead was reduced when Beverley centre Junior Tupai ghosted through the Dale defence from short range.
The momentum once again switched back to the home side and as a result Dan Collins powered over from short range. Nutt Converted.
Beverley finished the half on top, following a yellow card for Dale’s Tom Albinson, their pacey winger finished a good backs move off. The half ended 21-10.
The second half was an ideal Beverley 40 minutes with the play scrappy, which into the away team’s hands. Dale had to contend with the wind and the slope against them and it told. They were unable to capitalise like Beverley did in the first half and as a result were on the back foot.
The usually solid defence was broken down on numerous occasions as Dale were unable to escape their half.
And then Beverley scored twice with one converted to go into the lead with 15 minutes to go.
On the 70-minute mark a collapsed scrum went sour with Beverley front row Alex Ogilvie sustaining a neck injury. The game was delayed for 50 minutes until an air ambulance could move Ogilvie, who was later released from hospital and allowed to travel back over the Pennines.
When the game finally resumed Dale thought they had sealed the close encounter through a Nutt penalty to put them 24-22 up with five minutes to go.
However Beverley were not be denied and struck back with a penalty of their own before the final whistle went to steal the game 24-25.
Dale have a lot of thinking to do during the week to amend the mistakes before their final league game of the season away at Waterloo.
