A BIT of Barcelona came to East Lancashire recently when Rossendale Valley Juniors played host to the skillful Spaniards.
The club invited two teams from the Cambrils Academy in Barcelona – where many of the players are registered with Barca and Valencia.
Haslingden Sports Centre hosted the two matches which were mixed U13s/U14s and U15s/U16s.
The Cambrils side won the opening match between the younger sides but Valley restored some local pride with a 4-1 win in the second match.
Club president Stephen Haworth would now like a rematch in Spain.
“Both games were played in a very fair but competitive manner but the Valley teams are looking for rematch in Spain.
“I would like to thank everyone who supported the games, especially referees Tony Hulme and Nick Brookham.”
