ACCRINGTON sporting icon David Lloyd admits he is honoured to join Stanley’s board as a non-executive director.
Ahead of this evening’s League Two trip to Crewe Alexandra, Accrington Stanley announced that ‘Bumble’ would join current directors Ilyas Khan, Peter Marsden and Peter Shaw and chief executive Rob Heys.
Lloyd played for Stanley before his celebrated cricket career saw him captain Lancashire and represent his country.
Lloyd said: “I am honoured to be a part of the ongoing success of the club. No mater where I am or what I am doing, my links with Accrington and both the football and cricket team have never waned.
“I was proud to become a shareholder last year and now look forward to assisting the board in its efforts to create a well-run, community based football club we can all be proud of.”
Chairman Khan said: “I cannot tell you how pleased I am to welcome David to Stanley’s board of directors.
“We have taken pride in our careful efforts to repay our debts and regain a solid financial footing, while balancing the wonderful exploits of the playing side with a modern, transparent and friendly governance structure where professionalism is the only determinant of a decision making process.”
