DAVID Lloyd is ready to give Accrington Stanley a boardroom boost after agreeing to become a non-executive director.
Cricket pundit Lloyd, commonly known as “Bumble”, played for the Reds before embarking on a celebrated cricket career which led to him captaining Lancashire and representing England.
As one of the town’s most famous sons, Lloyd has been an unstinting supporter of both Stanley and Accrington Cricket Club for many years.
Should the proposed boardroom addition be granted, he will join current directors Ilyas Khan, Peter Marsden and Peter Shaw, and Chief Executive Robert Heys.
Lloyd, who became a shareholder last year, said: “I am honoured to be a part of the ongoing success of the club.
"No matter where I am or what I am doing, my links with Accrington and both the football and cricket team have never waned."
Club chairman Ilyas Khan added: “I cannot tell you how pleased I am to welcome David to Stanley’s board of directors.
“Not only does David bring to the board a high level of propriety, but as an Accringtonian he also bears the interests of our town and our club at the forefront of his mind.”
The proposed appointment will now be sent for the approval of the Football League and then confirmed at Companies House.
Accrington Stanley will add another independent non-executive director as part of ongoing plans to enhance governance and expand its shareholder base.
