AFC Darwen boss Kenny Langford wants a strong finish to the North West Counties League First Division season and is challenging his Salmoners to make a push up the table between now and the end of the campaign.
Langford’s men have had a stop-start campaign with the weather causing a rash of postponements and that in turn leading to inconsistent form.
But now with the weather finally showing signs of improvement, Langford is hoping for a run of results to take his side into the top half.
“It’s tough at this level,” he said. “There is a lot of frustration when you are not playing but with a bit of luck we can move forward.
“We are working hard at the club to progress and we have been played pretty well at times but what I want is for us to try and string a few results together.”
Darwen head to Northwich Villa tomorrow and Langford added: “It will be a tough game but there is no reason why we can’t go there and get something – and we play them next week as well.”
For that game Langford would love to see a big crowd to swell the Anchor Ground coffers and he added: “It would be great if any Blackburn Rovers fans who have fallen out with them would come and watch us.
“All our lads are local guys and give a good show and it would be superb if a few more would come through the gates.”
