Brent Peters admits he can’t wait to get back to action after the big freeze – although Bacup’s return to action tonight is likely to be put on ice.
Peters would love to see non-league bosses move the season to the summer when pitches are better and games would be more attractive to fans.
“It would be a sensible move to play from March to October,” he said. “It is difficult for clubs to get people through the gates – but they might just fancy it a bit more on a nice summer evening than in a frozen February.
“People don’t realise how high above sea level we are at Bacup and Colne are and with the best will in the world it is a tough ask to turn out when it’s freezing.”
Bacup are due to host AFC Blackpool tonight – but that game is likely to be off with West View (above) still not thawed out.
“I am thinking of hiring the ground out as an ice skating rink,” laughed Peters.
