WILL Hatfield is determined to secure regular football at Accrington Stanley and prove a point to Leeds United after rejoining the Reds until the end of the season.
Hatfield spent time on loan at Stanley from Leeds earlier in the campaign but went back to Elland Road after losing his place with Accrington.
He was then released by Leeds in January and last week became Leam Richardson’s first signing as caretaker boss following a brief spell with Halifax.
“When I did play I thought I did well but I wasn’t match fit to play 90 minutes,” the 20-year-old told Stanley’s website about his initial spell at the Crown Ground under John Coleman.
“I just thought I was a bit unfortunate not to keep my place, but it was a good experience.
“I felt at the time that I needed to go back to Leeds because I wasn’t playing or even on the bench.
“I needed to go back and get my match fitness back up. Looking back now I’d probably say it was the right choice.
“I got the match fitness, I got a few games at Halifax and then I go the call to come back. It’s worked out well.
“It was just unfortunate how it finished at Leeds but that’s life.
“I feel like I do have a point to prove to them, when I was there I felt I did well enough to earn another contract there but there were circumstances with the manager and it’s all about opinions.
“I want to get into the team as quickly as possible here now.”
