TODAY’S non-league programme has once again been hit hard by the weather with games called off across the Pyramid.
The continued freeze means that, for the second Saturday running, all the East Lancashire teams have no game.
Chorley’s Evo-Stik League Premier Division trip to Worksop was called off on Friday due to snow and ice in the Nottinghamshire area, while Clitheroe’s scheduled Evo-Stik League First Division North tussle with Woodley Sports also went late on Friday with Shawbridge frozen solid.
Chester's game with Stafford is the only game in the top flight to go ahead, while in the First Division North Bamber Bridge's Irongate has passed an inspection meaning the clash with Durham City goes ahead.
AFC Fylde are due to play host to Salford - but that game is subject to a further inspection at 1pm.
Bacup Borough’s game at AFC Liverpool and Padiham’s trip to Maine Road were also early casualties, while Colne's game with AFC Blackpool was another one that couldn't beat the weather with the pitch at the XLCR Stadium declared unfit.
Premier Division leaders Ramsbottom United were also kicking their heels after their game at Alsager Town, which was already in serious doubt, was finally called off following a pitch inspection at 10.15am.
Fellow high flyers Barnoldswick Town were keen to return to action - but their game at Flixton was finally called off shortly after 10.30am.
Across the entire North West Counties League there has been major disruption. Runcorn Town v Congleton is definitely on, while Bootle v Ashton Athletic failed an 11.30am inspection with all other games off.
The entire East Lancashire Football League programme was wiped out and the West Lancashire League is also badly hit with just five games across the senior leagues surviving.
It isn't just football hit hard, in rugby union Rossendale's National League Three North game at Penrith is off, as is Blackburn's North Lancashire and Cumbria trip to Eccles.
Clitheroe's game with Eagle and the derby between Pendle and Colne and Nelson were also off as the weather took it's toll.
Keep an eye on www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk this morning for more updates on the latest inspections.
