BURNLEY produced their best performance of the season to stun promotion-chasing St Edward’s Old Boys.
And Getty Schinkel’s side did it the hard way as they bounced back from 13-3 down at the break to win with a three try salvo.
Dom Leck kicked Burnley in to an early lead but the Saints hit back with a converted try and two penalties to lead at the break.
However, Burnley who dominated up front throughout the game, hit back with a fine try from outside half Simon Finnan, converted by Leck who then kicked Burnley level.
Replacement flanker Adam Lee crashed over to give Burnley the lead and another Leck kicked sealed victory.
“The lads were awesome and it was a great way to end the year,” said Schinkel. “We were really up for this game and were unlucky to be behind at half time.
“But we didn’t let our heads drop and we came out in the second half and played some good, aggressive rugby to win.”
n Blackburn’s game at home to Eccles in North Lancs/Cumbria and Clitheroe’s trip to Eagle in North Lancs Two were both called off due to the weather.
