It was great to see young Jayden Stockley on the scorsheet this week.
Yet another first league goal for a Stanley player and a personal landmark for the lad.
Stanley dominated long periods of the play but the elusive away win still evades us.
This weekend’s draw at Macclesfield has been overshadowed by the talk of plastic pitches making a return to league football.
The old days of plastic were terrible, the surface was at best like a beach and at its worse green concrete.
The surface at non league Hyde United gave the home team a distinct advantage for the first couple of seasons, after which opposition managers changed tactics and any advantage was minimal.
The modern 4G pitches are superb and, during the winter months you, are more likely to see a passing game played on them compared to a muddy or frozen grass surface.
The purists will say that football should only be played on grass but Premier League pitches have a plastic mesh woven into them and with World Cup and Champions League games taking place on modern plastic it can only be a matter of time before they come back to the league.
An all-weather surface will bring in much needed cash to Stanley but with an early estimate of around £500,000 to install I do wonder how long it would take to see a return on our investment.
