JAYDEN Stockley hopes to prolong his loan stay at Accrington Stanley after coming off the bench to score his first ever Football League goal in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Macclesfield Town.

Stanley trailed to a 20th-minute header from Shaun Brisley at the Moss Rose but Stockley levelled with 12 minutes to give the Reds their 12th draw in their last 14 away games in League Two.

John Coleman’s side have not won away from home since February and slipped a place to 18th in the table, but a respectable point extended their unbeaten league run to three matches ahead of Saturday’s home game against Dagenham and Redbridge.

Stockley joined Stanley on loan from League One side Bournemouth a fortnight ago and the 18-year-old’s goal, in his third appearance for the Reds, was his first in the Football League.

He had previously made 10 substitute appearances for his parent club, spanning back to his debut at the age of 16.

And the striker is now targeting more goals and an extended stay at Stanley, with his initial one-month loan ahead of the Dagenham and Redbridge game.

“There’s only one game left technically now on my loan so hopefully we can change that,” Stockley told Stanley’s official website.

“I’m enjoying myself up here and hopefully there are more goals to come.

“It was my first league goal and I’m just happy to get off the mark.

“I thought I should have hit it first time, I thought the chance had gone but I took it on to my left, which isn’t my strongest foot but I managed to get it into the goal, so I was very pleased.

“You know that you’re going to get on at some point and you’re just hoping for that one chance when you do get on.

“Thankfully I got mine today and thank God I took it. But the most important thing is the result, to get a point is good even though we could have won it.

“That’s three games unbeaten in the league now so we’ve got Dagenham and Redbridge next week now and hopefully we can make it four.

“We’re happy to take a point away. It sets it up for next week and hopefully we can get a good three points at home.”
